Ah, Springtime! The time of new beginnings, new opportunities. Outdoors everything smells fresh and clean and wonderful bursts of color are arriving. The energy is alive and new. I believe some of the world’s greatest poetry was written in the Spring, and some of the world’s greatest perfumes were created in the Spring. Below are some tips for feng shui in the Spring season: CHARACTERISTICS OF SPRING ENERGY: the growth of our body and head hair speeds up we tend
One of the first places I survey when I begin a new project is the interior and exterior entryway of a location. The energy of the entryway tells me a lot about its occupants; how their space feels (which is often a reflection of how they are feeling). I can sense if the client is in overwhelm mode, nurturing or compassionate, if they have pride in their space, if they are welcoming, etc. In Feng Shui, the entrance of any space
THE PROCESS BEFORE TAKING ACTION Many times after I’ve helped a client organize a beautiful, functional space they’ll ask, “ok, now what”? Being organized, knowing where things go, being able to find things, and having a “to do” list of priorities is one thing, but taking action on these priorities is another challenge altogether. Before taking action comes the very key step of “thinking or processing”. Here’s how it works: Step #1: Make your “to do list” then prioritze what needs
A buddy of my son recently phoned to make a sales pitch for Cutco knives. If you haven’t heard of Cutco the product is right up there with Wusthof cutlery and other world-class brands. What I didn’t know is that Cutco products are made in America and they have a lifetime guarantee. Cutco also creates scholarship programs for college students based on what the student sells. Justin was talking with me in the hopes that he could earn some scholarship
Lavender is one of the most important herbs and belongs to the family Labitae which includes mints and plants that are native to France and England. Used for more than 2,500 years in aiding digestive problems, anxiety, insomnia and restlessness; lavender can also be used for disinfecting wounds and treating scrapes and scratches. An added bonus is its wonderful aroma. European royalty is filled with stories of lavender usage. Lavender in oil form is one of the few botanicals that
BEFORE FENG SHUI Here is a “before” photo on the left and “after” photo on the right taken from the entrance of the master bedroom. Notice in the “before” photo, the position of the bed headboard is on the same wall as the entry door. This is a no-no because you can’t see who is entering the bedroom from this position. Notice how cluttered the bedroom feels from the entry, not very warm and inviting. Another big no-no in the
The Summer Solstice (begins June 21) is almost upon us. Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year and heralds in color, play, active and light-filled, summer days. I love the mood of summer.
This month’s article is about what to do after one is organized. Don’t worry if you’re not actually organized because by moving in the direction of visualizing being organized is the first step of actual organization. But remember: being organized gives you the gift of time. The question becomes: what will you do with this time?
THE PROCESS BEFORE TAKING ACTION
Many times after I’ve helped a client organize a beautiful, functional space they’ll ask, “ok, now what”?Being organized, knowing where things go, being able to find things, and having a “to do” list of priorities is one thing, but taking action on these priorities is another challenge altogether. Before taking action comes the very key step of “thinking or processing”.
Here’s how it works:
Step #1: Make your “to do list” then prioritize what needs to be done.
Step #2: Within each priority think about how long it will take you to actually get the priority accomplished and if you need to drive somewhere include drive time. Visualize the process you’ll use for getting your priority done. List any supplies, inventory, or additional resources you’ll need to execute.
